Job Description:
Our Ottawa based client is looking for a Desktop Publishing/Graphics Resource for a one year contract position.

All candidates must be able to translate languages such as, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

All candidates must possess Reliability Clearance.


DUTIES/TASKS:

1.Design and layout of Case Studies in four languages (English, French, Portuguese and Spanish). The Case studies are: Brazil; Costa Rica; Comparison; OECD-Canada, Nutrition Labelling #2; Lessons from 15 Case Studies; Report I & II Framework for assessing the impact of context on public health policy; PAHO Guide for Documenting Health Promotion Experiences; ActNowBC (Portuguese and Spanish; and CARMEN Case Study in Portuguese and Spanish.

2.To code the above case studies to HTML to be posted on PHAC’s website (in four languages English, French, Portuguese and Spanish). ActNowBC (Portuguese and Spanish; and CARMEN Case Study in Portuguese and Spanish.

3.Advise, design and layout of various documents including but not limited to presentations (PowerPoint) decks, pamphlets and posters.

4.Be available to work seven days a week on an as and when requested basis .

5.All deliverables will be submitted in a Windows compatible environment (e.g. Windows 2000, XP).

The ideal candidate will have::
  • experience using the following software’s: Adobe In Design, Acrobat, Corel Draw, Corel WordPerfect, Corel Presentations, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
  • a minimum of five years experience in graphic design with project management experience to handle all phases of creation and production
  • experience in HTML coding to publish print ready documents to the web
  • a degree from a recognized university in the area of graphic design or English
  • experience in producing deliverables in an IBM environment
  • experience working in print and web publishing with foreign languages such as French, Portuguese and Spanish ensuring design consistency and correct alternate character set and fonts
  • experience working with speech writers on presentation and graphic requirements
  • experience working in at least three of the following: federal government departments, international, NGOs, Associations and Academia
